She is attorney-at-law since 2011 as well as certified lawyer in copyright and media law and certified lawyer in intellectual property law.
Prof. Dr. Kirchner-Freis is also director at the Institute for IT, Media and Intellectual Property Law and managing director of the Hugo Grotius gGmbH - non-profit Society for the Advancement of Legal Sciences.
Moreover, she is a professor of German and European IT, Media and Intellectual Property Law at the University of Bremen since 2014, where she lectures since 2009.
She is a member of the administrative board of Radio Bremen - public broadcasting service.
Prof. Dr. Kirchner-Freis is a demanded public lecturer on questions in Copyright and media law, IT law and intellectual property law. She has published and edited several books and articles.
Prof. Dr. Kirchner-Freis works in her specialisation since 1997. She studied law at the University of Marburg and at the University of Freiburg. At the Institute for European Studies at Saarland University she completed her Masters and her Ph.D. (Dr.iur.) with a focus on European media law. After the practical phase of her law education at the Higher Regional Court Dusseldorf, with an internship at the Media Authority of North Rhine-Westphalia, she worked as lawyer, legal counsel and/or managing director in Germany, UK, France and Denmark.
